local county fairs.....

Seems as though summer season may be starting to wind down.....It feels cooler outdoors and I can only wish for more rainy days, and less hot weather....

One thing I know, is that it is time for local county fairs to begin...I saw that there is one locally in a few days......

Local county fairs are very old-fashioned and sadly some have lost their charm.....Not too many people attend them or join in the activities...People can enter many different things in the County Fairs to be judged for ribbons and local people can view them.....

types of categories to be judged:

Art work
Gardening
Sewing
Farm items
Food prep
Crafts
Baking
Livestock shows

(they do not try the food items for safety concerns, they just look at them and judge them.)

the local County fair has a fair grounds and show barn, they have food vendors, carnival, buildings where the judging takes place for ribbons....just something traditional to go support and look at.....

The judging ribbons can be in many different colors, and say how the person's item placed in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place...any judging ribbon is good when they can be given a ribbon...it's all in fun remember....

you may go and see the entries that are to be judged, see a livestock showing, enjoy the carnival and food vendors if you have the time and chance to go see them.....I like the county fairs this time of year.....

4-H is another tradition, it is a program for school children to be very involved in and it teaches many different learning skills and they create items and place them at the county fairs to be judged also....I think it is a good program for children to take part in.....they always place items at the county fairs to be judged and they are nice to go see what they have created and how they placed...just something good to go and see......

I know state fairs will be starting soon in a few weeks, those are fun also this time of year...I just think the local county fairs should be better and win back their charm....many more people need to go and support the local county fairs.....
