Agriculture and Farming are areas of interest to me at all times!..I live on a farm and I like all the ways we have to farm and sustain a livable life. Many different things in Agriculture we work on everyday to keep a farm managed correctly and working properly...It takes a lot of tough work to keep a farm producing crops/livestock and making money from those so we can sustain a good life.
I believe we can make all these good things happen for our lives and for the world with agriculture....There is nothing better to me than to be working and staying dusty covered in dirt from the field...No make-up on, my hair tied back, and running farming machinery all day/evening...I like a good radio in the tractors..portable or built in, it doesn't matter I like singing with the music while driving tractors.
I like trying to get the crops planted before the season or cultivating whatever crop...and working with livestock, vaccinating them, tending to their ailments, feeding them, purchasing feed for them, watering them, transporting them to different fields to graze/drink from ponds...helping deliver their babies...cleaning the pens/corrals---many different things I like to work on with livestock...
you can help the world and make money because the world always needs food for all people of the earth...and we all need clothing and textiles, so growing cotton can make many different clothing/textiles.....you can grow many, many different vegetable crops and fruit crops(in some areas where they will grow) you have to be sure your climate will permit these crops to grow...
the crops I like best are all of the vegetable/fruit crops which is all of them!...but the crops I have helped grow are these--
wheat
corn
cotton
peanuts
sorghum
canola
and many hays to feed livestock--prairie, clover, alfalfa...
needed for Agriculture---
lots of tough all day 24/7 work! and it takes a lot of fuel..i wish we had solar powered tractors/vehicles!!! lol...fuel is too expensive...oh well...gotta keep goin' !
machinery that works properly--tractors, plows, culti-packer, drills, planters, manure spreader, auger, cotton picker, conveyor belt, farm truck to drive in pastures to check cattle/drive to field, cotton picker, haymee, seed/grain/feed hauling trucks, harvester/stripper, trailer for hauling wheat seed, swather, combines, rake, wagon, dryers, round baler, livestock trailer, chutes/pens/corrals---always need a ginormous barn!..many others I haven't thought about...
a good feed/seed store--to purchase vaccination supply, feed-for all animals, seed for all crops, items for machinery repair, and many other items for farming/agriculture.
machinery shops for agriculture/farming are needed with skilled mechanics who will drive to the fields, I wish we had those everywhere! and machinery part stores with all tools/machinery-equipment/parts available so you don't have to wait to order it from somewhere else!....
also needed are cotton gins, and many more grainarys to take your crop production to after harvest to make money...
a good Dew-eze company that can make/attach them to feed trucks for loading hay bales..also we need feed boxes to place on the feed trucks..if you don't have one it is just ok to feed livestock from the feed sack by walking in the pasture and pouring the feed onto the ground in a line so they can line-up and enjoy their feed....you also need a good horn in your feed truck to press and call your livestock up to be fed....
good, clean, humane, livestock auction barns are needed with plenty of shade for the animals, plenty of room and very spacious iron pens/corrals that are correctly welded and tall enough so they cannot jump out of the pen, misting systems, plenty of water, and feed...make it comfortable for the people attending the sales too!...with refreshments and concessions available...
a good feed lot is always necessary for livestock production and those need to be monitored and properly managed at all times and humane...
anytime that you have property, you need fences for your livestock and property lines that you own to keep them separate from neighboring property lines and to contain your livestock/fields/pastures from others....we like the old fashioned barbed wire fencing and you always need a good fence building crew to build that for you...
and we always need good welders all the time to repair machinery that has broken, and to repair all the gates/chutes/pens that are metal/iron..metal/iron piping works the best for building a corral/pen I think...but it gets very expensive so start at out small and work toward grander better items for farming/agriculture by saving your money when you can...everyone starts out small with agriculture.
save your money it gets expensive, save money for veterinarian visits, save money for your life,/family's life/home, and for times when the weather gets bad and can ruin crops..
we also need to insure crops, homes, land---all farming items need to be insured so we can be supported in times of drought, weather damage, fires, just many different downfalls can happen with farming so always be aware and prepared...
irrigation systems may be needed so we need piping and an adequate water supply somewhere deep under the ground...or from neighboring water supplies we can irrigate from legally...we also may need water wells to be dug and set to get water to our livestock, crops, homes..so that is needed too-- IF you can have water wells in your area, IF NOT you may just need irrigation systems...
planting trees of many different kinds for shading and for crops is good...I like fruit/nut trees as well....they also help the earth with oxygen so we need to plant those...we need grasses underneath our feet to hold the soil down so it won't shift and keep the soil from eroding and dust blowing in the air everywhere at all times...grasses to walk on are needed..it needs water too..
I like attending farming/agriculture seminars to inform and teach me more about the agriculture industry....local meetings/information classes are needed and available to all interested in farming...I like those..Enjoy the coffee but pay attention and take notes so you can learn...lol.
watch your weather reports so you can know when a good day is for every agriculture activity you may need to tend to at the right season/time/date....that's very important...
working all day in the fields and working toward making your crops/livestock successful everyday you can go home at the end of the day and sleep all night you are so tired...and I like that.
