biscuits and gravy....

This is what cowboys and cowgirls like for breakfast....haha..

I like to make this for breakfast sometimes.

Biscuit recipe

1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
2 cups self-rising flour
3/4 cup buttermilk
Melted butter

In a large bowl, cut butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3-4 times. Pat or lightly roll to 3/4-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter.

Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown. Brush tops with butter. Serve warm. Yield: 9 biscuits.

or just purchase biscuits in a can if you wish to and bake them according to instruction on can...I also like to make biscuits and use jam in them after they are completed baking with a small amount of butter too....

I like several different jams and I like a brand from Oklahoma called Garden Club....they have all kinds of jams..i like them all tried on biscuits with a small amount of butter.....

or just make a simple gravy.

Gravy recipe

1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1-3/4 cups milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Stir in butter until melted. Sprinkle with flour. Gradually stir in milk, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Serve over biscuits...this only makes 4 servings...so if you need more gravy...just make more!....haha!

I also like to purchase gravy mixes in packets from a brand here in Oklahoma called Shawnee Mills...not homemade, but just as good!....if you don't have much time to fix breakfast, gravy mix packets that you add water to are much simpler and take less time to prepare.....
