Even with all the brightly colored packages, the cheerful greeting cards, the music, the decorations, the lights, anything with the holidays, it can all be depressing to many people this time of year.
Many people do not like the holidays and it is because of many current situations in their lives, past memories, loss of loved ones, memories of bad things that happened at past Christmases, no money, no work, and sometimes just stress of the holidays with all the shopping can cause upsets and make many people not like the holidays at all...it can be stressful!
And many people just do not have any family to celebrate Christmas with!...and when that is your situation it can be depressing, OR maybe you are happy that you have no annoying relatives to spend the season with!....Haha!...
When you have no family to spend Christmas with, you always know that you can have friends, co-workers, and others who you can invite over for a Christmas bash and prepare a meal for, and purchase gifts for them and open gifts with...laugh and carry on with life...
You don't have to be related to someone to call them family and think of them as family!....Many people/friends/co-workers are close like family and just invite them over every holiday when you can, send them greeting cards, purchase gifts on special days for them, remember them always, check on them, and care about them like you would relatives...It is very sweet and kind to allow others into your life as your family when you know they are good people and you can always rely on them to be there for you....and care about you also!
I don't think anyone should ever spend the holidays alone, it is depressing when you are going through upset times and it ruins your Christmas! So I think that when you may be alone on Christmas that you should get out there and invite others over for a Christmas Bash and send invitations/cards, purchase decorations/lights and place them up everywhere anyway!
Just plan a Christmas Bash with foods/silly gifts/watch a movie on your tv, you can have party food---vegetable/meat/cheese/cracker trays, or cook a meal, and the gifts can be Silly Santa Sacks full of silly inexpensive gifts to make everyone laugh, OR you can draw names and just purchase gifts for the person whose name you have drawn....If it's many people or just a few...don't let depression ruin the tradition of Christmas! keep old traditions going...
you can have Ugly Sweater contests---Men, Women, teenagers, children all take part in these and this is another way to laugh through the depression you may experiencing...you can gift the winner something a little more expensive like an appliance--something funny but useful!...LOL....
other fun gifts could be inexpensive jewelry sets, makeup sets, scarves, throws, mugs, socks, hats/caps, or a small cooking set...just make it fun!
teenagers and children may be there with their parents, and you can all purchase a few inexpensive gifts for them for the Christmas sacks, colorful paper sacks are more affordable....
purchase a Bingo set and play some holiday Bingo and hand out prizes for the winners!..I like to play Bingo!
listen to Christmas music, sing along, laugh and be silly, and you may want to prepare a Christmas punch, or Hot Apple Cider, Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Tea....just be very careful and don't entertain people with anything bad like drugs or drink...Keep it clean!...
you can have candy and or/dessert trays....always gotta have candy!...LOL!
nobody should be alone at the holidays and nobody should be depressed at the holidays....Everybody goes through depression at holidays!..so invite others over and have fun, that way you can get rid of your Christmas depression and probably someone else's depression too!
