When you get older you know that you may sometime need to be placed in a nursing home for therapy reasons, mental health reasons, and maybe because nobody is there to care for you when you are elderly or they just cannot take good proper care of you....it is sometimes too difficult for others to care for you because of health issues.
I know a lot about all of this because of aging grandparents, having issues...It has been very difficult finding skilled nursing anywhere! I think skilled nursing should be available to everyone...
I know that even younger and middle-age people may need skilled nursing for health issues and may need to be placed in nursing home type facilities for care....I think that skilled nursing needs to be everywhere and available to all, and clean, professional, affordable!
Therapy/rehabilitation type needs are also something that should be everywhere in the nursing homes for the elderly and for those that have had strokes and have dementia or other mental health issues....I just don't understand why they don't offer this everywhere and have it readily available to everyone who needs this and skilled nursing facilities?! most local small towns and cities should have this available to everyone and it should be affordable.
all nursing homes need to have up-to-date facilities and equipment, also equipment that works, workers should all understand one another and get along/never fight/harass each other, or gossip about patients business, or gossip about their families, stop being nosy about their money and other things in their lives!...*eyeroll*...they need to be kind, courteous and respectful, also being friendly would be good too!....
People should learn to be more friendly, cleaner, caring, and kind everywhere! not just at nursing homes..be a good person! and smile often! :) I know many people do not have much to smile/laugh about, but I keep working on being cheerful most all the time....keep laughing/smiling anyway despite how you may feel.....
one thing I do not like or understand is why when people have to be placed into nursing homes/care, the nursing homes have to garnish most all of their assets and everything they have just to place them into a nursing home/care???...it happens to many elderly and it is very stressful, upsetting to them to know they have to give everything they own to a nursing home so they can stay for what short years they have left of their lives, and then worry about their spouse that is left behind with nothing.....it makes me sad to think about all that and seems very crooked and very wrong to do this to people in terrible sad times.....I know that goes on with many and it upsets me and I cry for those people!
as goes for everything, nursing homes MUST BE clean at all times, they need to have clean, trustworthy workers, and I know that nobody likes to clean rear ends of other people and not get paid much for it, I just think that the workers/helpers NEED to be clean, kind, caring, trustworthy people...NEVER lazy trashy people that stand nearby and hurts the patients, neglects the patients, yells at others, steals items from patients, stealing and selling medicines, lying and going out on the steps of the building and doing/selling drugs or smoking all the time...I have recently seen a lot of that nastiness and it is pathetic.....AND I have heard about it all for years.
I know it is probably difficult to find good reliable kind trustworthy workers/helpers and all nursing homes MUST HAVE good people working there...many good people need work...Just too much corruption in a field that needs to be reliable, trusting and serious for the health of people.....
it's terrible that nursing homes can be so nasty and upsetting, dangerous for elderly patients and people of other ages who have to live there..... :( *sadness*
they need to have better food for them that they enjoy, activities, better room accommodations and cleaner, painted, decorated rooms/buildings as a whole indoors/outdoors....The older nursing homes are sometimes all you can find a room at, and most nursing homes are full up to capacity with no room, there is much need for skilled nursing and/in nursing homes!
nursing homes and special nursing care will always be needed because we will all be old/elderly someday and many people have special needs care at all ages that only a nursing home facility can offer them!......they all should have special places in the nursing homes for dementia, strokes, and mental health reasons also...
it's awful enough what people go through with loved ones having health problems and needing special care, and having to place loved ones in nursing homes is tough, but you sometimes have to do this.....nursing homes shouldn't be so gloomy, sad, depressing!
