cinnamon candy apples....

One fun food creation this time of year traditionally for me to create with my Grandma has always been the Cinnamon Candy Apple....

We always try and make these apples for the seasonal celebrations...I enjoy all fun seasonal food creations....and this is one IF you like apples & cinnamon....I like to work on finding old recipes that are simple and unique for the holidays....this is one of them.

Cinnamon Candy Apples

You'll need:

1 cup of water
1/2 cup corn syrup
2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon oil
1 teaspoon red food coloring
12 wooden craft sticks
12 small apples

Boil your water, syrup, and sugar together until a brown caramel color is reached at 250 degrees F on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add cinnamon oil and red coloring. Cool slightly. Place a craft stick in the core of each apple. Dip the apples 1 at a time into the heavy red syrup, drain well, and place on a buttered baking sheet to cool. Let them cool several hours. Then when cooled, wrap in plastic clear wrap....Give as gifts to those you know.
